Project Hope: Lebanon

Lebanon update banner

We successfully met our goal to provide 600 children’s bible activity books to displaced children in Beirut. We have raised enough funds to equip 8 volunteer children’s workers with transportation and meals for one month. This will allow for them to host counseling sessions with children in Beirut experiencing trauma. Finally, we raised support for the team in Lebanon to continue working with local churches and the refugee population. The funds we raised will provide activity kits for 300 children as well as relief for families who are being hosted by Arab Baptist Theological Seminary.

Thousands more children and families will be impacted through online curriculum, trauma counseling, further church outreach and more over the coming months as EGM-Lebanon continues to minister to their community. Thank you for joining us in supporting EGM-Lebanon.

Because of the support of EGM’s generous community, over 1,088 lives will be impacted for Christ!

Hope, Support, and Relief For Lebanon

"On Tuesday, August 4, at 6:10 pm in Lebanon, there was a devastating explosion of 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate. The blast resulted in over 170 deaths, 5000 injuries, and 400 missing people. 300,000 people were uprooted and 30,000 households were directly hit by the blast. Most homes were obliterated. Area hospitals located near the port also ceased to operate. Families and children were fighting for their lives under the rubble and debris.

Pain and shock immediately washed over me. I cried and felt numb for a couple of days until I remembered this verse from Nehemiah 1:4, "When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven.”

So I prayed and decided to stand up and start helping. Even before the explosion occurred, people were already suffering from the pandemic, the economic crisis, famine, and hyperinflation. The need is indescribable. This is a huge opportunity for EGM to reach out to families and children and bring them the hope of Jesus.

I’m praying that the Lord gives us wisdom and a vision of what we can immediately do as the need is big. Thank you for your prayers and support at those hard days. Lebanon will be mourning for many many days to come." -Siham Daoud, EGM Lebanon National Director
